12 oz can pours a lightly hazed brown color with a creamy tan head. Retention and lace are about average.
Nose is chocolate, toffee and nougat with a little bit of leafy hops in the background. Smells malty and nutty...quite pleasant.
Taste is nutty and not-quite-chocolatey...somewhere between caramel and chocolate. This is a solid little brown ale and thinking about it, might be the best Texas produced brown ale available. Smooth finish with just enough hops to keep it from being sweet. Good beer, will buy again for sure.

Deliciously smooth brown ale. The very minor hints of chocolate with a taste of malts and brown sugar. All the while it still maintains a very clean and sustainable taste. Will try many more times!

On tap at Max's Wine Dive - Fairview (Houston, TX), served in a shaker pint. Pours a deep, dark brown with frothy tan head - lives up to its namesake silty river water. Roasted malt aroma with toffee and caramel notes. Flavor packs even more roasted malt: toffee, salty caramel, dark chocolate, approaching savory. Enough earthy, spicy hop bitterness keeps the full malt sweetness in check. Medium body with smooth but lively carbonation. Full and flavorful while still drinkable; a nice, big take on an American Brown Ale.

Not often an adjective associated with brown ale, but I found this beer refreshing! On draft into a shaker pint, brown color with a small head. I liked it and would consider getting it again.

dark brown with a slightly off white head that settles almost right away...light on the smell...with a light note of coffee & hops...not bad actually.
