Pours dark caramel with slight fading head from tall 500ml bottle to tulip glass. Notes of sweet caramel, brown sugar, honey, and sweet boozy malt with subtle lactose, pineapple, coconut and almond brewed in bourbon barrels make this an amazing stout “tiki sting ale” at 13% ABV. CHEERS to greatness!

Pours dark brown, has a sheen on top, minimal head and lacing, and some floaties. Scents of dark fruit, brown sugar, honey, molasses that I’d expect from a strong ale. Light notes of bourbon on the nose, but very little in the way of the other adjuncts. They are more assertive on the taste, as there’s a fruity sweet flavor present. Medium bodied, a slight oily feel, boozy. I like it.

Bottle Logic baffles me. I’ve had a similar amount of “wow” beers to “meh” beers, so it’s always a crap shoot. Here’s another 500ML bottle, split with my wife.

The pour is a quiet dark brown shot through with red, quite clear. The nose is light: stewed red fruit, caramel, booze.

Phosphorescence is predictably off-beat. The pineapple gives is an acidic chonk right up front that everything else plays off of. The barrel arrives next & the twist gives it an exotic flair; I could not have identified these as bourbon. Heavy malted sweetness, light coconut, pear, oaky dryness, & one cannot escape the pineapple finish. It’s less welcome than on the opening. An ounce or two would have been ideal.

Applaud the experimental spirit, but the tropical fruit was not folded into the stout with sufficient niceness. Meh.

500 ml bottle.

Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. No retention or lacing.

The aroma brings bourbon, vanilla, almond joy candy, faint oak and very faint pineapple.

The flavor is very sweet. Not quite cloying. Lots of caramel, bourbon, chocolate and pineapple. There's lighter notes of almond and coconut with the faintest idea of oak.

The feel is thick, syrupy, and surprisingly smooth. Prickly carbonation.

Overall, this is definitely a very good barrel aged strong ale. The bourbon is very much present, but doesn't overpower the other flavors. Definitely a slow sipper.

I forgot this was a strong ale, so I was shocked to see a clear brown to reddish pour fill to burnt red with a short khaki head fizzling to the thinnest chain.

Aroma is actually surprisingly classic barrel aged #life with charred cask, caramels, toffees and only hints of coconut-almond.

The sweetness of pineapple is only slightly influential on the palate--and only as a more caramelized and even brûléed expression--but this is combatted by raisin and more toasted coconut.

The medium but nearly syrupy body has a tingly carbonation that runs to a slightly warming, slightly wet and sticky finish where an exhale of vanilla bean crème brûlée persists.

I found this to be more enjoyable than the rum barrel aged stout variant Broken Blender that otherwise featured similar cocktail inspirations.

Opaque but shaded brown body, tan ring and surface islands. Bourbon soaked pineapple and coconut with sugary caramel, light chocolate, with a whisper of oak for the nose. Taste sees the tropical notes dipped in caramel sauce with bourbon, molasses, and a kiss of cinnamon melding in. Decadent, pure and potent, a strong ale with a unique flair! Feel is very warm, decently smooth, the sweetness does build through the sip but stops short of being a real problem, and medium bodied.

Phosphorescence is a bourbon barrel aged strong ale with coconut, pineapple and almond. My wife thought it was too much bourbon, I think it is a bit too sweet, but overall it is still pretty good.

Look: dark brown almost black color with a fluffy off-white head

Aroma: coconut, chocolate, bourbon

Flavor: It's sweet, I can taste coconut, chocolate, pineapple, and a lot of bourbon, maybe some almond. Very much like a dessert.

Body/Overall: medium body.
