Berry Pie-Inspired Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout collaboration with Forager Brewing • 11.3% ABV • Aromas of late summer berries -- rich and overripe with a gentle tartness. A subtle sparkle of cinnamon opens the palate, where it meets a lattice of pie crust malt flavor that balances the boldness of these sweet, stewed blackberries and boysenberries. Medium bodied with a velvety texture and lingering, earthy berry finish. Contains lactose.

The stark black pour comes out of the bottle quite viscously, and even seems like it won't build a head for a good minute, but then a dense creamy mocha blanket slowly surfaces, flat and level, before receding back into a thin but persistent ridge.

Taste is quite wild and herbal of bushfruits, primarily driven by tart and tangy boysenberry before the chocolatey malt comes in after. It's more like chocolate raspberry sticks but richer and with a more acidic fruit.

The medium body is fairly viscous in feel but with a sharp but minimal carbonation that leads into a semi-sticky, lightly wet yet warming finish where the barrel begins to emerge in brief glimpses, but not so much as found in other Stasis entries.

Certainly not their best, and particularly not as successful at mimicking the stated inspiration as I usually expect from them, but still better than most any other fruited stout out there.

Brownish black viscous body with a brown ring. Aromas of the various berries, especially elderberry, with bourbon and big molasses. Taste adds raisin, fig and blackberry to the nose elements, semi-sweet chocolate joins the barrel elements. Feel is sneaky tart but the barrel character warms and balances well, massive on the palate with good thickness to pair. The wife liked it
