Slice into a sip of liquid birthday cake as we celebrate our eighth operational anniversary! Cake Day was aged in a combination of Bernheim, Four Roses, Heaven Hill and Old Fitzgerald bourbon barrels and clocks in at a festive 14.5% ABV. Sweet chocolate from a blend of Ghanaian and Ecuadorian cacao nibs opens the palate, then it's a flavor fiesta replete with vanilla frosting and sprinkles all the way through the finish. It's ridiculous; it's perfect.

Plenty of particulates, quickly dissipating tan head on a dark brown color. Damn, does this have a strong chocolate smell, but vanilla and bourbon are also prevalent. Taste is sweet and boozy with the same characteristics transferring from the nose. Thick, syrupy, bid bodied, and boozy. Excellent.

Poured motor oil black with minimal brown head and no lace down glass. The beer has both strong notes of chocolate (cocoa?) and booze. Thick and chewy, almost doughy, yet slick, with a pronounced sugary chocolate taste and something like vanilla with clean finish and only a smidge of heated booziness on the finish.

Pitch black body with a short lived brown cap. Nose is the star: great blend of bourbon led barrels with fudgey chocolate and accenting vanilla. Taste starts the same, barrel depth is great and oak more present than in nose, but then it is rapidly crashed into by a tsunami of rich chocolate, residual bourbon and molasses emerge, but then the finishing blow of vanilla and sugar covers it up. It's good but it could be greater with more barrel character and less gimmick. Feel is heavy, thick, warm and somewhat sugary especially on the finish

The somewhat viscous tar black body has a roiling surface that's slow to froth up but does build a mocha muffin top head that disperses to a creamy collar.
Though suitably so, it's a bit cloyingly sweet and forward of vanilla frosting and chocolate cake. Hot bourbon syrup emerges as it warms, amplifying this affect, while the char in the exhale is a nice consolation.
