Bourbon barrel-aged churro imperial stout
While we typically build our confectionary stouts with layers of semi-traditional adjuncts (graham crackers, roasted nuts, cacao nibs, fresh fruit) to accomplish our pastry purposes, we tapped the unique brilliance of the Odd by Nature team and went right to the source for this churro stout with the addition of more than 1,000 literal churros. Late churro additions to the kettle, debarrelling through a bed of churros, and further conditioning through a mini-brite tank stuffed with, you guessed it, more churros make for a ridiculous and utterly delightful dessert beer. Aromas of pure pastry, doughy richness on the palate, hints of toffee and chocolate on the finish, and sparkling with perfectly incorporated cinnamon throughout!

A - Pours pitch black with a very thin tan head. Light amount of oily lacing.
S - Aroma is cinnamon, dark chocolate
T - The taste is dark chocolate, cinnamon, black coffee, vanilla, charred oak and a light lingering bourbon heat.
M - Full body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a slick drying finish.
O - Another solid pastry stout from Bottle Logic.

churro inspired beer, 2023 vintage, jumped at the chance to crack a barrel aged bottle from these guys, all the hype around their stouts and all, couldnt miss this. its solid if not life changing, which has been my experience with their stuff before, huge and barrel forward, would be good on its own without the flavoring, but its faithful pretty well to churro, cinnamon is the obvious note, and there is some greasiness and residual sugar here than cannot be denied, apparently brewed with actual churros at different stages of the process, not just churro components, but this remains a thick and slick barrel forward stout, booze forward, bourbon strong in aroma and flavor, quality though, and not without complexity. near black, super viscous, a bit oily looking but also holding a short light brown head for a little bit. the nose is cinnamon, vanilla and whiskey together, barrel char and dark chocolate, light toasted coconut to me, good coffee, fudge, warming cinnamon, and alcohol. i do get an almost fried element to this, like there is some grease, but it only adds to the decadence and isnt gross, cinnamon and sugar, cocoa and roast, certainly a big enough grain base to support all this flavor, light smoke, date sugar, milk chocolate, and burnt toast. sweet but not diabetic, cinnamon and whiskey though the finish, i think a pretty good take on a churro in a stout, a little goes a long way, palate coating body, hotly alcoholic, but very tasty overall, hard to not be impressed with this...

Midnight black stout pour with a brown ring. Smell is exactly what the dr ordered: churro with big cinnamon, some dark nuttiness, toasted caramel, and vanilla supporting meets solid bourbon forward barrel. Taste has more nuttiness and almost breadiness (I learned later this was graham cracker) that takes away from the purity of what the nose has, still a well balanced pastry stout complexion though. Feel is medium-heavy bodied with cinnamon making more in roads than barrel into the malt. Points for nailing a vision that is beyond the norm
