Bourbon barrel-aged imperial chocolate stout brewed in collaboration with Weathered Souls Brewing.

Right when we released our fresh Black Is Beautiful back in 2020, we knew the chocolate-laden concept was destined for a barrel treatment. We're honored to work with Marcus and the Weathered Souls team once more in bringing this powerful liquid into its final form!

Grab this golden ticket and ride Form Five through rivers of sweet milk chocolate into a decadent, dark chocolate tunnel of Ecuadorian and Filipino cacao nibs. Sparks of toffee and fig zip through bold layers of oak and bourbon, offering balance and character and completely subverting any need for cursed songs about morality.

Brownish black opaque body with a fat finger of medium shaded brown foam. Smells of cocoa pebbles with bourbon barrels. Taste really does nail lots of chocolate with bourbon barrels and malt supporting, slights sugars on the finish. Feel is medium bodied and smooth, drier for BL. A throw back that delivers its tried and true elements

Bottled in 2023. Poured at 55°. A recent Tavour purchase. Dark brown mixed bubbles sit atop a black body with ruby edges; poor cap retention; brief thin ring; thin legs at best on swirl. Nose is predominantly chocolate; some booze in the exhale; just a whiff of bourbon. Semi sweet chocolate; no bourbon to speak of; mild oak middle; Cocoa Puffs finish. Boozy bite on tip of tongue; mouth warmth from 14.3%; smooth silky feel; medium plus body; not adjuncty; light carbonation. Overall, there’s plenty of chocolate and a long hot boozy linger; wish it had more bourbon.

Stout it out #7 turned into a bottle share.

Almost exactly the same as scatter signal, no marshmallow but stronger chocolate flavour. Just as thick and sweet.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a really thick black with a bit of dark brown head. The nose is fantastic. Gooey chocolate, marshmallow, vanilla, slight bourbon, and a hint of caramel.

The taste is sweet milk chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, graham crackers, coconut, marshmallow, walnuts, a hint of cinnamon, and a bit of maple candy. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Great stout overall.

Chocolate. Bourbon. Alcohol. Sounds like my final resting place. I hope.

Hard black without a plethora of bubbles. Nose: rich chocolate, bourbon.

Form Five brings the chocolate. Its presence dominates. As in so many of this brewery’s beers, the bourbon takes a back seat, maybe even one in the trunk. It’s faint. Touch of bitterness, oak, molasses.
Finish is dry chocolate (trying to set a world record for using ‘chocolate’ in a review; see, I snuck another one in there!). No problem for a chocolate-addict like myself making this 500ML bottle vanish.

Good, solid beer, if a bit one-dimensional.

poured from a 500mL bottle into a TG DBA tumbler. pours dark brown but settles in the glass black with a thin dark brown foam head. rich cacao and light bourbon on the nose. even get some hints of caramel as it warms. tastes follows. rich chocolate with caramel and bourbon in the background. medium-full mouthfeel. silky smooth. it’s not overly complex but it hits a lot of sweet spots for my sweet tooth. you have to dig chocolate though.
