i love a cream ale, and i love that they are making a comeback among american craft brewers, both me and my lady both appreciate a good one, so we were excited to try this one over at the brewery after a long (for me) day of shopping. its not as crisp or clean as it should be, the finish tastes like cleaner a little bit, and it didnt quite hit the mark for either of us, despite our overeager readiness to love it. it looks the part, super pale, clearish, and bubbly from the tap, but there isnt much character to it in terms of nose or taste, just simple pale malt, a little corn sort of sweetness, and a slow fade, but thats what make the whack finish so problematic, is that is stands out like crazy because there isnt much else going on. we get a little dishsoap, a little weird phenolic thing, and a slight brewers sanitizer element, but im not ready to chalk it up to a improperly cleaned glass or beer line, its definitely in the fermentation, too warm maybe, definitely not crisped up with cold conditioning to the extent that i need to make the style work, or some light infection setting in, but it didnt take me there unfortunately, and it ended up being a hard pint to finish despite having so much promise. a real turn off. i liked every single other beer we had in here and from these guys so far during our time in boise better than this one, a low point for them for sure so far, at least in my experience...
