Taster at brewery. Cloudy golden with zero head (tsk, tsk). Yeasty aroma, clove. Bready malts come in the taste, some sweetness, more clove. Almost there, not getting much if the bubblegum vibe usually associated with this style

extremely well made hefe here from these guys, one of their first new ones i have seen or had in ages, and better than expected, edge has always been a little up and down for me, but this rules, super well refined, awesome ferment, and a little stronger than most being north of 7% abv, so it stands out in that regard as well. looks the part, high white lathery head from the keg on top of a lightly hazy golden yellow beer, a little lace as it drinks. aroma is right on, could almost be from germany. familiar banana and white pepper notes, light clove and allspice, earthy and puffy wheat, and a neat dryness to the whole thing despite it also having some depth, even slightly nutty on the nose, fresh and vibrant, light lemon and orange too, gorgeous. the flavor is just as good, banana and pear notes up front and its certainly yeast forward but its not phenolic in the least and its just bold enough, love how much wheat can still be tasted in this, the water chemistry seems dialed in, and the texture is great, uplifting carbonation and good body. impressive offering here, and for a good cause. maybe i need to go visit edge again and give them another try, its been years...
