Bomber Brewing 'Apex Barleywine' @ 10.0% , 2015 vintage served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $9.50
A-pour is a golden amber from the bottle to a orange/amber in the glass with a smallish off-white/beige head leaving a spotty lace along the snifter
S-cabernet franc barrels
T-sweet malt , warm alchohal swallow
MF-mild carbonation , full bodied , warms the body as more is consumed
Ov-needs time in the cellar to age and become more complex

On tap at Alibi Room, Vancouver.
Cherry with trails of foam. 3.75
Maraschino and port nose. 3.75
Raspberry jam and cough syrup, tobacco, and red licorice. 3.5
Papery end and clean linger.
Almost full, chewy, hot. 4
Super sweet, cloys quite a bit. No hops either, so I’m not seeing where this is a barleywine. Sips like a port - that'd be the Cab Franc barrel ageing - and almost plays like an old ale. Not what I want from the style, in other words. 3.5
