Choqlette Oatmeal Stout

A- Pours a medium brown coloration, and the brew itself is rather clear for a stout! The head is an eggshell colour, starts out around a half finger in thickness, looks creamy and dense, and settles down into a thin layer over top the brew with a thick ring around the inside of the glass. Even with the clarity I cannot see what is happening with the carbonation, however, there is a nice lacing left behind that sticks to the glass in large spotty fashion.

S- There is a traditional element about the aroma here, but, there are huge amounts of rich dark chocolate, black French press coffee, roasty/toasty chocolate and black malt dryness, with the finish showing off big time dry cocoa powder. Underlying smells of dry oak flakes, unmalted grain, cream, barley yeasts, chocolate creme truffle and just a hint of dry hop bitterness on the end.

T- The flavors overall falter to what I was expecting based off the aroma here, with toasted malt, muted chocolate and black coffee being the main attractions here. There are underlying flavors of vanilla, oat flake dryness, dairy cream, yeast and a dry hopped finish that is somewhat cleansing. Not as great as I was hoping in this category.

M/O- Medium body and with what I would say is a medium degree of carbonation, yet smooth on the palate. The drinkability is decent enough and I have no overall qualms about this stout, but I just dont think it quite lives up to what I was hoping it would be....I would have this again for sure, but.....theres just a but about it....hmmmm
