Dark brown, close to black, with very little head. Smells sour and smokey, like a lambic stout. The taste is quite good, bitter, smoky, salty and sour, with notes of sour cherries, oak barrell, whisky, leather and fortunately very little peat. Smooth and oily texture, with little carbonation.

Got this one on bierlab.nl. Thanks Pim!
From a bottle into a snifter
EBU: 85
EBC: 320
Bottled August 2014
Scottish Scottish Whisky barrels
APPEARNACE: Transparent dark brown pour yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, slightly creamy, light tan head with good retention. Head slowly fades to a swirly wisp and ring and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. . Clear bistre brown body with no carbonation evident. A ring and slight wisp remain leaving dots of lacing down the glass. Much like the other variants with a decent head but very light body.
SMELL: Lighter nose than the previous one, but more pleasant. Reminds me of lambic somehow, with notes of barnyard funk and tart lemon notes. Oak is there with hints of caramel as well, but the tart aspect is more prevalent.
TASTE: Light whisky notes up front with a slight tart lemon flavor as well. Some funk at the swallow with sharp alcoholic whisky notes as well. Milder but lingering finish is very alcoholic, sharp whisky, some tart flavors, plenty of oak and some tannins as well, with light hints of caramel and burnt grain. Not all that pleasant and the whisky is rather piercing.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Slightly creamy on the palate, more so than above, goes down okay and finishes a touch dry without being astringent.
OVERALL: This one is better than the above but that’s not saying much. Still too much tannins and wood flavor with a piercing whisky alcohol character that gets in the way. Too light a look as well. Not something worth the trouble. The earlier batches of barrel aged Meneer were more enjoyable.
