Really dark brown color with mocha head. Aroma has some weird roasted/smoked/peated notes. Sweet malt in the background, old wood and some brown sugar. Taste starts with sweet, smoked malt, some burnt rubber, old wood barrel, biter finish with roasted malt and even some earthy hops. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Not bad but really weird.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Surprisingly large head. Taste was chocolaty but with a big hop presence. A little too hoppy for my tastes, but an easy drinker, especially given the high ABV.

OK let's cut to the chase: this is one of the most complex stouts I've ever had. The taste is close the a British stout : dark fruits and toasty coffee. But then there's a leathery powerful backbone to it. I liked the complexity and the classic stout taste, but the leather was very challenging. I couldn't finish it easily. I still don't know what to think of it. I couldn't find the chocolate notes the others are talking about. Uiltje say it's "French oak aged with a peaty twist to it" so that's where the leathery notes come from. This is a brew for people who like a challenge, don't believe the simplistic reviews that tell you there's only coffee and chocolate in there that's not true. It's also worth mentioning that at less than 4 € per bottle (in Europe) this is probably the best bang for your money in a barrel aged stout.

Absolutely delicious imperial stout. Pitch black pour, light brown espresso head. Milk chocolate and dark chocolate in the nose, together with some coffee, molasses and caramel. Tastes like milk chocolate and cocoa and a bit of barrel of some kind. I can't remember exactly, I am writing from memory, but boy, is this beer tasty!
