Got this one from the Duvel guy. Cheers! This is the most recent canned batch described as a West Coast IPA.
From a 440ml can into a snifter
Canned 23 November 2018
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium looking, creamy, fluffy white head with good retention. Perfectly clear amber in color with touches of carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a think wisp and coats the sides of the glass. A wisp and splotchy wisp remains leaving some good lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Mosaic hops. Lots of mango, passion fruit, pineapple, and some light caramel notes. Lots of tropical fruit and plenty bold enough.
TASTE: Some caramel sweetness with light hints of toffee as well, along with passion fruit, melon and plenty of tropical flavors up front. Some bitterness at the swallow, moving into a bold and lingering finish of tropical fruits, passion fruit and pineapple, some caramel sweetness and a good dose of hop bitterness as well. Flavorful and enjoyable.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a touch dry on the palate. Some bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. Lovely IPA that really hits the spot. The mosaic hope really is wonderful and this is a good example of how delicious it can make a beer. Glad to have gotten some and would drink it en mass if readily available. It looks like ‘t Uiltje is the evidence that The Netherlands can finally do hops like it’s nobody’s business. Cheers!
