Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 03 January 2019
IDH7 DDH NE IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium looking, creamy white head with great retention. Hazy amber orange with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full wisp and leaves good lacing on the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing on the glass.
SMELL: Passion fruit, mango, pineapple and various tropical fruits on the nose. Medium strength.
TASTE: Pineapple, mango, passion fruit and tropical fruit character up front. Some soapy hop notes at the swallow, moving into a bold finish of tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit sweetness, as well as some soapy hop bitterness as well. Nice tropical notes though the soapy qualities are a little questionable.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit dry. Some bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is alright, but not quite as enjoyable as some of the others in the bi-weekly releases. It’s a little soapier on the finish than I’d like but there’s certainly some nice hop character and a nice feel to support it all. Okay all around. Normally I wait a few weeks before drinking these bi-weekly canned releases, which give them time to take care of any residual post fermentation oddities, such as soapiness, so I'll grab another one and stick it away a couple weeks. Anyways, these bi-weekly canned releases have been really nice are worth checking out if you see them. Cheers!
