Got this one from the Duvel guys in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 07 February 2019
Session IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy and frothy white head with good retention. Perfectly clear sunglow yellow with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a fill film and coats the glass with lacing. A faint film remains until the end leaving lots of nice lacing down the glass. This is a good looking brew.
SMELL: Caramel and toffee aromas, with notes of citrus fruits and some piney qualities as well. Bold.
TASTE: Piney bitterness with some grainy pilsner malts and caramel and toffee sweetness up front. A good dose of piney bitterness at the swallow with a bold and lingering finish of bitter hops and a grainy, pilsner malt sweetness, caramel flavors and some pine.
PALATE: Medium body and carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes quite dry on the palate. Some bold bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is quaffable on a summer’s day but it is rather bitter and very grainy as well. The nose is a little more enjoyable than the flavor. The wakatu hops carry the day but the pilsner malts come across as too grainy and sweet here. Not something I’d want to drink a whole lot of.
