Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 7 March 2019
Red IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 2 finger, medium looking, fluffy off-white head with great retention. Perfectly clear rust orange body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp and coats the glass with lacing. A solid wisp remains until the end leaving lots of lacing down the glass as it empties. Good looking.
SMELL: Caramel and toffee aromas, piney notes, grassy and melon fruit aromas on the nose. Bolder and appealing.
TASTE: Caramel, toffee notes, some piney and floral flavors with a bit of bitterness at the swallow. Medium but lingering finish of sweet caramel, melon, piney hops, and some decent hop bitterness as well. Flavorful and plenty bitter.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A little foamy on the palate, smooth, goes down fine and finishes a bit drier. Bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good beer. A hoppy red ale more or less. Enjoyable and easy to drink, with more than enough bitterness to be refreshing on a warm afternoon. Good stuff but then again, at 5 euro a can, not something that delicious that you’d necessarily crave a second. Cheers!
