Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 12 June 2019
NE Pale Ale
APPEARANCE: Pours out perfectly clear and yields a two finger, looser and foamy white head with good retention. Clear-as-day golden yellow with medium levels of carbonation. Head slowly recedes to a foamy cap and clings to the glass. Faint wisp and ring remain leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lots of honeydew melon, some pineapple, tangerine and some caramel aromas as well. Bold enough.
TASTE: Some hay and grainy malts up front, along with some sweet caramel and melon flavors as well. A bit of pineapple at the swallow, then a medium but lingering finish of grainy sweetness, hay, notes of pineapple as well as some piney bitterness.
PALATE: Medium, lighter body and medium carbonation. Smooth on the palate, creamy enough, goes down fine and finishes drier.
OVERALL: This is billed as a New England style Pale Ale, which is a very loose interpretation of the style at best. It’s definitely grainy and malt forward and is also too clear in the look for the style. Perhaps this works as a normal pale ale but doesn’t quite live up to expectations for the NE style. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing overly right either.
