Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 33cl can into a snifter
Canned 21 June 2019
Ice Distilled Imperial Stout
APPEARANCE: Very clear brown yields a 1+ finger, thinner looking, fizzy, light tan head with lousy retention. Head quickly fizzes down to a thin ring. Bistre brown body with no carbonation evident. Looks relatively flat by the finish.
SMELL: Bold and boozy. Plenty of peated, earthy aromas, leather, some roasted aromas, hints of milk chocolate and lots of alcohol. Very bold and earthy.
TASTE: Earthy, with plenty of peated flavors, leather, licorice and milk chocolate up front. A big burst of alcohol at the swallow, with a bold and boozy finish of peaty earth flavors, leather, milk chocolate, licorice, some roasted character and plenty of spicy, boozy alcohol lingers on the palate. Flavorful, earthy, with a big, boozy punch to the face.
PALATE: Full body and medium levels of carbonation. A little prickly on the palate, goes down slightly harsh with a big burn at the swallow, finishing rather sticky. Lots of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Solid stuff. Very boozy and alcoholic, but the flavor and aroma are very nice, especially if you like earthy, peat-forward imperial stouts. This one is big, bad, and beastly, so tread lightly whenever you decide to drink it. If you like overly ambitious stout beer, you’ll like this one. Be ready to take orders from your sergeant. He should know what he’s doing. Cheers!
