Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a snifter
Canned 24 July 2019
TDH NE Double IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, creamy, foamy white head with great retention. Perfectly clear gamboge orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp and clings to the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Bolder nose of melon, honey, some orange and tangerine, lemon aromas and touches of mango on the nose. Fruity.
TASTE: Caramel, toffee flavors, melon and honeydew up front. Some mango and tropical notes too. A touch of alcohol at the swallow, moving into a bolder finish of honeydew melon, caramel and toffee flavors, some orange and tangerine, as well as some alcohol lingering on the palate. Flavorful and strong.
PALATE: Medium fuller body with medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. Some alcohol lingers.
OVERALL: Bold and aggressive. This one has a lot of strong flavors and the alcohol is definitely part of the show. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a New England style, but it is less bitter with plenty of hop forward character. Good stuff and definitely enjoyable. Recommended.
