Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 18 September 2019
Rye IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, looser, foamy white head with good retention. Clear amber yellow body with medium carbonation evident. Head recedes to a faint wisp and clings to the sides of the glass. Half wisp remains leaving good lacing down the glass as it empties. Good looking.
SMELL: Big nose of melon aromas, honeydew, caramel, grassy notes and light citrus lime and grapefruit aromas. Plenty forthcoming.
TASTE: Melon, honey, caramel sweetness, grassy hops flavors and spicy rye malts up front. Bold and flavorful. Some more caramel and sweet melon flavors and some piney bitterness at the swallow. Bold finish of spicy rye, grassy hops, some light caramel sweetness and piney bitterness lingers nicely.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit dry. Some spicy rye and bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. The spicy rye malts really come through nicely here, and the hop qualities work well with the entire show. Very aromatic and flavorful as well, with lots going on. Good look and feel to boot. This is one of the better Uiltje cans to have come out in the last little while, and these releases are generally top notch anyways. Enjoy while you still can. Cheers!
