Got this one at the Duvel Guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 16 December 2019
Double NEIPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, medium looking, frothy white head with very good retention. Perfectly clear amber orange body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a thin wisp and coats the glass with lacing. Touches of wisp remain leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties. Solid looking but not really NEIPA style.
SMELL: Light caramel notes, melon aromas, grassy hops with hay, as well as some citrus lemon aromas a well.
TASTE: Caramel notes, some melon flavors, as well as grassy and spicy hops at the swallow. Bold finish of spicy hops flavors, lemon citrus notes, grassy hops, as well as some hay qualities lingers on the palate. A bit of melon sweetness as well.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit mouth-coating on the palate. Some spicy alcohol lingers.
OVERALL: This is alright. I don’t see what is so New England about it, but whatever. It’s flavorful and enjoyable and is very well made, like all these Uiltje canned beers are. Good stuff but nothing to write home about, per se. Give it a shot if you see it around. I found this better than the first Hop Alone brew. Cheers!
