Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 28 Jan 2020
Brut IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a small, thicker, foamier white head with okay retention. Perfectly clear straw yellow with no carbonation evident. Head recedes to a thin, faint wisp and ring. A faint wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Caramel malts, floral notes, hints of orange and mandarin, with melon and honeydew on the nose. Medium strength.
TASTE: Caramel malts, melon, honeydew flavors, with floral notes and some bitterness at the swallow. Medium finish of melon flavors, floral notes, some light mandarin character and medium levels of bitterness linger on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes crisp and dry on the palate. A bit of bitterness lingers. Good feel.
OVERALL: Nice stuff overall. The melon and mandarin character go well together and the feel is really good for the style. The head is a little lack luster but that’s a minor point. This isn’t going to change the way you view the universe but as far as quality beer goes, this is another fine example of what Het Uiltje does. Cheers!
