Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 11 February 2020
NEIPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, slightly thinner looking, foamy white head with great retention. Hazy amber yellow with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a nice, full wisp and clings to the sides of the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving solid lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Bold nose of tropical fruits, mango, pineapple and passion fruit, some caramel notes, as well as some light lemon aromas as well.
TASTE: Tropical fruits, like passion fruit, mango, some pineapple sweetness, wheat malts as well as some grassy hops and a touch of bitterness at the swallow. Medium finish of wheat malt, grassy hops, some tropical fruits and touches of bitterness linger on the palate.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body with medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a touch dry. No real bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is really good. This one seems to be on the wheaty side of the spectrum, which works for me. The tropical fruit character is well done too. Not quite the sludgy, murky NEIPA that you might get in the USA, but since endlessly trying and failing to homebrew that stuff, that’s certainly something worth looking past. Enjoyable and well worth getting more of if it’s still around. Cheers!
