Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 4 July 2020
NEIPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 2+ finger, looser looking, foamy white head with excellent retention. Cloudy, almost muddy amber yellow with no real carbonation evident. Head eventually recedes to a full cap and leaves some foamy lacing on the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving some nice, sticky lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Caramel malts, some honeydew melon, piney aromas with notes of pineapple on the nose. Grassy and piney hops on this one, with some passion fruit as well.
TASTE: Caramel flavors, honeydew melon, some passion fruit notes, with a bit of alcohol at the swallow. Medium finish of caramel, honeydew, bubble gum, light grassy and piney flavors, hints of passion fruit and a touch of bitterness lingers on the palate. Notes of spicy alcohol as well.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A touch foamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating. A touch of heat lingers.
OVERALL: This is okay. It’s got some decent aroma and flavor, though it’s not quite the tropical fruit bomb this style is so well-known for. A little foamy perhaps, but looks good for the style and there’s enough solid character there to be decent. Not bad, but these guys have made better in this style.
