Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 16 June 2020
IBU: 14
EBC: 9
Double IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a small, ½ finger, medium looking, creamy white head with excellent retention. Hazy, cloudy gamboge orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp and clings to the sides of the glass. A splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lots of tropical fruits with pineapple, mango, passion fruit, peaches and nectarines on the nose. Very fruity and tropical. Bold and nice.
TASTE: Some caramel sweetness up front, with tropical fruits like peaches and mango flavors at the swallow, but it’s not quite as tropical fruit forward as the nose had indicated. Medium finish of caramel, pineapple, passion fruit, some soapy flavors and a bit of alcohol lingers on the palate. A hint of piney bitterness too.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit drier. A bit of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is solid. The look and nose were outstanding, then it fell off a bit in the flavor and feel. Not quite as tropical fruit forward as the nose had lead on, though it’s still enjoyable enough for sure. Worth checking out through round 1 is more impressive than round 2. Cheers!
