Het Uiltje – Napoleon Belmaparte
Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 25 August 2020
Blond IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy, frothy white head with great retention. Perfectly clear amber orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp cap. Splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Honeydew melon, caramel malts, some piney aromas, light lemon citrus and some grapefruit on the nose. Decent strength.
TASTE: Caramel malts, some honeydew melon, piney flavors and some light bitterness at the swallow. Bold finish of caramel sweetness, honeydew melon, lemon citrus flavors, some grapefruit and decent piney bitterness linger after the swallow.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a touch dry. Some decent bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Solid stuff. As always, these 44cl can series are always solid and enjoyable. A slight variation here or there, but the base recipe works time and time again. This one’s a little more bitter than the others have been in recent canings, but nothing wrong with that. Cheers!
