Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Simcoe Single Hop NE Pale Ale
4.6% ABV
Canned 28 July 2020
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, foamy white head with solid retention. Clear amber yellow body with touches of carbonation evident. Head recedes to a full wisp and clings to the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving some solid lacing down the glass as it empties. Good looking.
SMELL: Bolder nose of pineapple, mango, passion fruit, light citrus notes and some caramel malts. Nice stuff.
TASTE: Tropical notes of pineapple, mango, passion fruit, hints of caramel and some piney bitterness at the swallow. Medium finish of caramel sweetness, some tropical fruits, pineapple, as well as some piney bitterness linger on the swallow. Milder in flavor.
PALATE: Slightly thinner body and medium carbonation. Light on the palate, creamy, goes down fine and finishes rather dry. Some light bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. The nose is bolder and more impressive than the flavor, though it’s still interesting enough for the lower ABV. These bi-weekly cans are usually good quality brews and this one follows suit. Very nice on a warm Indian summer day. Cheers!
