Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a snifter
Canned 22 September 2020
Double IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium looking, creamy, frothy white head with excellent retention. Perfectly clear amber orange with medium carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp and clings to the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving lots of good lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Plenty of caramel malts, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, some pineapple, as well as some piney hops on the nose. Bold. Some alcohol as well.
TASTE: Caramel malts, honeydew melon, some pineapple and tropical fruits, then some piney bitterness and booze at the swallow. Bold finish of caramel and melon sweetness, touches of tropical fruits, some piney hop bitterness and alcohol linger on the palate.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, weighty as well, goes down fine and finishes slightly mouth-coating. Some decent heat lingers.
OVERALL: Good brew for sure. Lots of yummy sweetness and some solid piney bitterness as balance. Good tropical hop flavors as well. Love me a good, bruiser of a DIPA and this one is definitely a good example of why the style kicks. Well worth it and it’d be nice if Het Uiltje brewed DIPAs like this on a weekly basis. Oh wait. They almost do that already. Excellent.
