Pours a pitch-black coloration with a large, creamy. mocha-colored head. Smells of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, with an intense coffee aroma and lighter notes of chocolate and hints of almonds and marzipan. Taste is an excellent balance of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, strong coffee, some chocolate and lighter almond and marzipan, with just a hint of licorice and lactose coming through as well. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some roasted malt, coffee and marzipan lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and medium carbonation.
This makes for a great Coffee Milk Stout that brings a certain Macchiato vibe to mind due to its excellent balance of roasted malt/coffee and sweet lactose notes, while also featuring some marzipan and licorice that strengthen those sweet and and bitter elements while adding a bit depth here. The full and rich mouthfeel and body round this out very nicely, while it never feels too boozy despite the ABV. Overall, this is a quite enjoyable brew that strikes a great balance of roasted and sweet notes, with a rather rich feel to it.
