Got this from the Duvel Guy in Utrecht. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 23 Feb 2021
6.5% ABV
Gin/Tonic Brut IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, fluffy and foamy looking white head with decent retention. Perfectly clear straw yellow with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a thick, foamy cap. A ring remains until the end leaving dots of lacing down the glass as it empties. Solid.
SMELL: Melon aromas, honey, some gin notes and some caramel on the nose. A touch of pine but this is mostly melon and caramel.
TASTE: Tonic water flavors, some honeydew melon and a touch of piney bitterness at the swallow. This definitely has a gin and tonic flavor to it. Medium finish of melon sweetness, honeydew, gin, spritzy tonic water and a touch of piney bitterness.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, a little fizzy like tonic water, goes down smooth and finishes a touch dry. No real bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Okay. Well, this is exactly as advertised. The ingredient list says it includes juniper berries, cucumber and lime, which is obviously what gives it that gin and tonic quality. It’s done excellently. I’ve had a few gin and tonics in my life but I am no means an expert here, but this is certainly well, well within the ballpark. Well done and quite enjoyable too. Check this out if you’re a fan of the drink and the brewery. You’ll enjoy it as much as I am. Cheers!
