Got this from the Duvel Guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 23 March 2021
Triple IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, creamy white head with great retention. Amber orange in color, clear, with medium carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full wisp and clings to the sides of the glass. A half wisp remains leaving sheets of lacing down the glass as it empties. Good looking brew.
SMELL: Bold nose of caramel malts, honeydew melon aromas, as well as some tropical notes such as mango and pineapple on the nose. Definite alcohol as well.
TASTE: Caramel malts, toffee flavors, notes of bubble gum and melon flavors up front. Sweet honeydew melon and some alcohol at the swallow, then a bold finish of honey, melon, caramel flavors, as well as some tropical fruits like pineapple and mango linger on the palate. Sweet and flavorful.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy and silky on the palate, goes down smooth with a bit of a bite and finishes rather mouth-coating. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: Solid stuff. Big, creamy, silky body and lots of flavor and aroma on this one. An impressive sweet malt and tropical hop combination that makes for a very enjoyable brew. I often find these triple IPAs unnecessarily strong for a hop forward beer, but this one works out really nicely and is far too easy to pound back in record time. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the style. Cheers!
