We know what you’re thinking – Owl Bundy, really? Yes, really. Our punch-packing 8,2% NEIIPA is an ode to season 8 episode 2 (get it, 8,2?) when the world’s most famous shoe salesman gets a historic ass wupin’. We blame the girlie girl beer, had he sipped this rumble in the jungle juice, Owl Bundy would’ve won that brawl. Just saying.

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and tropical/stone fruit hops with notes of coconut and peach, as well as some distinct woody and herbal aromas. Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt and fruity, herbal, woody, earthy and slightly resinous hops, with stone fruit, tropical and lighter citrus notes of peach, coconut, papaya and grapefruit, as well as just a hint of pine and some distinct herbal, woody accents that bring to mind old oak, sage and thyme. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some coconut, peach and piney, herbal, woody accents lingering in teh aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
When I first tasted this beer, Sabro hops immediately came to mind because of that distinct coconut character, but it turns out that HBC 742 hops are at work here, a sister variety of Sabro, that also brings some quite unique woody and earthy accents to this that are almost reminiscent of bourbon-soaked oak. There's also some distinct peach and lighter grapefruit and pine to this, which makes for a slightly odd flavor profile that is certainly rather unique and interesting though. It's a little different for a NEIPA, that's for sure, and I can always appreciate that. Overall this makes for an interesting drinking experience that is a little different, but certainly enjoyable for its sheer uniqueness. Also, it really has to be said that Het Uiltje have once again outdone themselves with the beer name and label here, which are just completely awesome.
