Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit and just a hint of pine also coming through. Taste is an excellent balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, bitter, resinous and slightly floral and herbal hops, with citrus and lighter tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine and pineapple, as well as some pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A very nice West Coast Pale Ale that's bitter and resinous, yet drinks easily, just like the style suggests, with some distinct citrus and lighter tropical notes, as well as a big hit of pine. There's a great balance of sweet malts and bitter hops to this and I think that it held up rather well for being just over 4 months old now, actually feeling rather rich for the ABV. Would have loved to taste this fresh, but it's still a very enjoyable example of the style.
