Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 15 August 2021
Hops: Amarillo, Azzaca & Mosaic
8.2%
Double IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, frothy white head with great retention. Mostly clear amber orange with medium levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp cap and clings to the glass. A splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties. Solid look.
SMELL: Bold nose of caramel, honeydew melon aromas, cantaloupe, some pineapple and touches of mango on the nose. Light tropical aromas under the caramel and melon.
TASTE: Caramel and melon flavors up front, with hints of tropical fruits and pineapple as well. Some light earthy notes at the swallow, then a medium but lingering finish of honeydew melon, caramel, some light tropical character, pineapple flavors, as well as a light earthy touch. Interesting and unique peated note.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit mouth-coating. No real bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff all around. Het Uilte usually does double IPAs really well and this is no exception. The hop profile gives off a slight earthy, almost peated quality that’s quite fun as well. Good character on this one and a nice feel to boot. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the style. Cheers!
