Beers like this don't come across too often, but when they do show up you can wet your chest. Mercilessly hopped with Ekuanot and Citra hops for pronounced citrus and tropical fruit aromas, which form a beautiful interplay with the roasted and caramel malts.

Pours a deep, dark mahogany coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit and lime peel. Taste is a good balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt and bitter, fruity, slightly herbal hops, with citrus notes of grapefruit and lime peel, as well as just a hint of licorice and eucalyptus. Finsihes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, lime peel and eucalyptus lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a pretty nice, although not excatly great Black IPA that is just not roasted enough for my personal taste, with the focus being more on the citrus, herbal hops here. I like the bitterness and herbal accents here, but am really missing that strong, roasted character that I expect from a Black IPA, although those light notes of licorice and eucalyptus kinda make up for it. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable, quite bitter and herbal Black IPA that not quite roasted enough for my personal taste though.
