Got this from the webshop. Originally ordered this but got something else by mistake, and they were nice enough to notice the mistake and send me a surprise freebee on my next order. That was very nice guys. Thanks!
From a bottle into a snifter
Bottled 28 February 2023
APPEARANCE: Pours out clear dark brown and yields a one finger, medium looking, creamy tan head with good retention. Bistre brown body with lots of carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full cap and clings to the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving some good lacing on the glass as it empties. Solid looking stout.
SMELL: Lots of bourbon and booze on this one, with wood and vanilla cream notes, roasted aromas, and some nice coffee as well. Bold and boozy.
TASTE: Plenty of bourbon flavors, boozy, with some roasted character, bitter coffee and alcohol at the swallow. Big and bold finish of roasted and bitter coffee, vanilla notes, some wood, bourbon character and plenty of booze linger on the palate. Bold and flavorful. Good stuff.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down smooth with a bit of a burn and finishes a bit sticky on the palate. Decent heat lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff for sure. Glad the Uiltje guys sent me this as an oops. Love me some coffee stouts and especially love when they’ve seen the inside of a barrel. This is a good example of the style, and anyone who can appreciate a good barrel aged coffee stout should give this one a whirl. Thanks again guys!
