Got this form the webshop. Cheers!
From a 44cl can into a pint glass
Canned 19 April 2023
Hops: Notueka & Nelson Sauvin
APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy, frothy white head with great retention. Straw yellow in color, mostly clear, with minimal carbonation for the style. Head slowly recedes to a frothy thin cap and clings to the sides of the glass. Faint wisp remains leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties. Good looking brew.
SMELL: Lots of melon aromas, cantaloupe, honeydew notes and some caramel sweetness there as well. Hints of bubble gum underneath.
TASTE: Some straw flavors, with honeydew melon, cantaloups, with some grassy bitterness at the swallow. Bolder finish of grainy pale malts, some caramel sweetness, hay flavors, melon and cantaloupe, as well as touches of hop bitterness linger on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a touch drier. A bit of bitterness lingers on the palate.
OVERALL: This is alright. It’s well made and the hops certainly take center stage, though I have to admit I’ve never understood the general enthusiasm for New Zealand hop varieties. It’s a little grainier than I’d like and the hay character isn’t necessarily what I crave in an IPA. I’ll continue to try the NZ style though, and this is a solid effort in my books. Cheers!
