Very tasty old fashion DIPA, a nice West Coast Double that offers a robust hop character over a nice malty backbone.
Presentation: 440 ml can. Another cartoonish take with one of their birds holding a massive gun and another one resting inside the cannon, reference to the Movie Scarface, I guess. As usual the can offers more elaborate cartoonish description with music, storage and drink temperature recommendations, QR code for more, several logos, cheeky description and some more. A bit overwhelming but kinda works as their signature visual noise. Notes hop composition, lot made 10-09-25 and best before 10-09-26 as well as 8% Alc. Vol. Served in a tulip-snifter.
L - Deep orange pour from the can, copper edges as it settles with a nice one finger creamy head. Moderate retention, fair surface memory and lacing.
S - Nice hoppy nose, a bit of stone fruit, some grass, and citric notes with a nice sweet orange perfume.
T - Taste elevates the candied orange as part of the hop ride. Nice bitterness with peachy notes, floral hint, and a characteristic old fashion IPA sense.
F - Medium to medium-full body with soft carbonation holding the brew very well, rich bitterness with a sticky finish as the palate closes.
O - Very tasty and enjoyable. Feels old fashion and yet fresh with a very stimulating range for a West Coast Double IPA
Notes: Another pleasant surprise from Uiltje. Again it hit a sweet spot with a rather retro feel. Much as hazys have been dominant for me in recent years, this is definitely a West Coast that I love to have around.
