330ml bottle poured into tulip

L - black, virtually nil head - more of an off white lacing.

S - strong whiff of dark fruit (plum, currants), burnt rather than smokey malts, hint of coffee

T - roasted to slightly burnt malts, cheap chocolate, some coffee and a hint of hoppy bitterness in the middle. A tad bland towards the finish

F - watery texture, light bodied, low carbonation

O - a bit bland for a schwarzbier - malt flavours not as pronouced as they should be, but it is a tad bit more hoppy than this style should be (whether thats your thing or not)

"made in the style of German Schwarzbier (black beer). Very dark brown to almost black in colour, it has a smooth roasted malt character with a hint of chocolate."

330ml bottle served in a glass at Town Ball near the brewery in Christchurch

Looks like, and seems to be a scharzbier.

Feel: Light body with high (too high) carbonation. A bit fizzy.

Aroma: weak; more hops than expected.

The flavor is weak but with a tad more hops than in a standard schwarzbier. Ignoring style, the balance is OK. Very mildly bitter aftertaste.
