Day 18 of the Advent Calendar 2017
Did this beer arrive on an ox-cart, driven over rutted roads? Because it practically exploded when I open it.
The foam was not long lasting, once it got into the glass, but it was certainly carbonated.
The taste was mostly coffee. I didn't taste any salty caramel at all. Body was thin, for the style.
Overall it was drinkable but not memorable in any way, other than the bad foam-over accident.

330ml bottle, day 18 of the 2017 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar. The name here pretty much says it all. Oh, and it's bottle-conditioned, which I don't understand the point of with something like this.
This beer pours a hazy, dark orange-tinged brown colour, with a voluminous amount of puffy, creamy, and fizzy tan head, which leaves some random streaky and chunky lace around the glass as it eventually settles.
It smells of roasted caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, wet saltine crackers, rich artisanal coffee, a hint of black licorice, and very tame earthy, musty, and floral noble hops. The taste is rich chocolate, saltwater taffy, thick cafe-au-lait, some earthy anise spice, and more understated musty, herbal, and floral green hoppiness.
The carbonation is obviously overwrought in its bubbles-gone wild frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and generally smooth, that is once the annoying fizz abates. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa, caramel, lactose, and coffee all still sitting and chatting around the table, while the Starbucks staff roll their eyes.
Overall - yeah, I don't know why one would purposefully hamstring a brew like this - you want an uptick in the ABV? Have a higher starting gravity, for Christ's sake! The insane C02 levels, which necessitated a PSA from the importer, are just unnecessary, when the underlying offering is quite tasty and enjoyable. Again, I just don't get it.
