Pours an innocent and light yellow color, there is a haziness about it that seems to be yeast/derivative. 1/3" loose bubbled head white in nature. Aroma was grain and almost no hop quotient discernable.

Taste, more problems, the hopping is even lighter. Smacks just as much, if not more of a blonde ale instead of a pale ale or extra pale ale. The yeast they choose comes across as possible belgian? Something weird phenolic and spice rack underneath the grain presence. The bitterness is there, clocking in around 40-50 ibu, but there is just no hop flavor, not even grapefruit really to speak of, just all high alpha acid type stuff with nothing to add in terms of taste.

I'd give these away if they were in my fridge.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; best by 03-04-18.
A: Pours a slightly hazy, golden to amber color with a half inch, white head, patchy retention, and modest, fragmented lacing.
S: Floral bouquet: honeysuckle, rose. Aromas of grasses and light barley malt.
T: Very grainy flavor with persistent, stronger than expected bitterness on the back end.
M: More medium bodied than expected. Carbonation subtle, but present.
O: Thought I'd enjoy this more than I did. A bit too bitter for the overall flavor profile. Unlikely to be back.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-burnt orange/copper color. Finger’s worth of white foamy head. Messy lace. The aroma starts off with some sweet orange zest, some lemon peel and then some grassy hops. Caramel and toffee malts play with the balance along with some breadiness. The flavor leans malty sweet with a nice clean taste upon my tongue. Well balanced in the aftertaste and leads well into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine as it is. Overall, good American pale ale that I could come back to if given the chance.

Poured from a cold 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Golden yellow, 1 finger head, some aeration but big bubbles.
Aroma: Barley, malt, sour yogurt.
Taste: Barley, hops but very mild. Mostly barley.
Mouthfeel: Fine.
Overall: Unlikely that I would buy this beer again. Nothing special about it.

Pours a medium-light gold, a little hazy, with a nice little cap of creamier white head that leaves small sticky lacing. The aroma doesn't exist beyond faint whiffs of grain. The taste is much the same, bordering into sweet. The body has a nice weight to it, mostly smooth with just a hint of carbonation.

Not much hop presence on the nose, almost lagered scent on the nose. Nothing too memorable about this one, but has the potential to be an everyday ale. Bottled from grocer in King of Prussia.

Better on tap, than bottle. Orange/golden color. A bit on the bitter side. Nothing special with this one. Dry finish. Hints of floral, citrus, pine and maybe clove. Kind of a boring beer.

Just realized this is also bottled as the "exclusive" beer of Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ. It is also known as Blue Pig Tavern Ale. It is a decently balanced APA.

My first impression was - This is a refreshing light ale - but later, after many tastings, I've returned to lower my orig rating. There's not a good enough balance betw hops and malt -needs more deep malt flavor - it ends up coming off a bit watery and lightweight. Also has a back-flavor.

DATE TASTED: May 4, 2014... GLASSWARE: Howard's Pub pint... OCCASION: toilet--replaced; lawn--cut; bathroom--painted = beer time!... APPEARANCE: creamy white head that attractively flairs; dark golden straw-colored, evenly effervescent body; drains evenly... AROMA: vibrant citric (mostly orange with some melon and pear as well) and floral notes with some light caramel malts--accessible and intriguing... PALATE: soft, lagerish body,, equally creamy and thinly taut--sessionable and perfectly at home...TASTE: Flying Fish continues to leave me a happy consumer, as this pale ale a strong profile fits within the genre well and yet is memorable enough to e sought again--maybe not at the bottle shop, but in a restaurant or bar...

XPA is a clear straw color with a moderate sized bubbly white head, head doesn't have much retention and leaves low (almost none) lacing. Smells of light bread, sweet and a little fruity kinda like musty citrus rinds. Aroma is a little too sweet for me.

Nice light fruity taste, a little bready, very sweet finish. A little too sweet for me, but still pretty enjoyable. Mouthfeel is light with above average carbonation, a little creaminess - right on for a Extra PA.

This beer really isn't anything special, but it is light and easy drinking. Was hoping this to be a little more hop forward like Hop Fish and Red Fish. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again, yet would be happy to drink it if I don't have a lot of options.

12 ounce into pint glass. Just about the clearest beer I've ever seen, its like a funhouse mirror looking through the glass. Bottle art on current run is sweet, with great typography, modern but classic. The taste, while somewhat bland, is still good. Its not going to win any awards, but its a local brewery for me and worth the price I got it for at Trader Joes ($1.50 per bottle for a mix six).

12 oz bottle with a imprinted best by date of 10 Dec. 2013, served in a snifter.
Clear light amber body.
A light APA, with a relatively (i.e., for style) light body, light aroma, and light flavor.
More hoppy than maltly, with a slightly bitter and quite mild grapefruit rind aftertaste.
Good medium+ carbonation with a dry, mildly bitter finish.
Improved more than expected with some warming.

12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
A--Huge head that slowly fizzled down and left nice lacing. Clear golden look. Looks exactly like I would imagine an American lager on tap looked in the early part of last century.
S--Smells sour & tart. Making me anticipate an astringent taste.
T--A little malty, not too much hops, especially for a pale ale.
M--Can hardy feel carbonation. Nothing really of note.
O--If it was 15 years ago, I'd say this was awesome, but craft beers have come a long way since then. This just isn't anything special.

This beer pours crystal clear and straw to gold colour with a thin but lasting head in the form of just a ring and very little lacing.

Upon agitation biscuity yeast aromas come out along with some light malt sweetness and some floral hop notes.

The beer tastes very lightly malt sweet mixed evenly with hop bitter throughout the sip which then takes over mildly at the finish along with some peppery notes.

The mouthfeel is smooth, fairly thin, but not watery, and on the dry side with a fair bit of carbonation over moderate.

Overall, I think this is an excellent beer for summer events (cans would be great if offered). As an American Pale Ale I believe it is too thin, but this is supposed to be extra pale and taylored made as such and when judging that needs to be considered. Would I buy this again? Yes! As an extra pale ale I think this deserves a 4 out of 5!

12 oz. bottle poured into a tumbler

A- Crystal clear golden-straw color with lots of actively rising carbonation. Fizzy, and a little creamy head retains at 1/4" with no lacing.

S- Light pale malt background, with a light fruity ( not quite citrusy) aroma. Pleasant.

T- Pale, stale tasting malt. Straw flavor. The malt profile in the taste reminds me a bit of Miller Lite, but with a slight citrusy hop balance and bitterness.

M- A good amount of tingling carbonation pairs with the light body, and finishes with a crisp, semi-dry character.

O- Besides the fruity smell, the flavors are fairly bland, and if I blindly drank this, would think of a lager, and a mediocre one at best.

On tap in a pint glass.

A- Golden brown color. Big 2-finger fluffy white head, foamy, lots of lacing and retention.

S- Pale malts, grainy. Not much else.

T- Bready with some caramel malt sweetness.

M- Plenty of body and feel. Full hearty breadiness. Dry finish a la other FF brews.

O- Not my favorite offering of theirs, but much better than the options on that particular evening.

A - Gold, clear, white head has some retention and lacing.

S/T/M - Light herbal hops on the nose, taste has cereal grain sweetness with some herbal, lemon hops. Strange sweetness as it warms, though, with some bubblegum (?) Light/medium body, medium carbonation level stays smooth across the palate, finishing mostly clean.

O - Average, a little bland, some off-flavor sweetness. I had one, that's good enough for me.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours clear golden color with active bubbles. White foam steps up and disappears. Malty straw nose. Light but full hoppyish taste. Straw too. Little bitter holds. Crisp finish. Refreshingly simple. Great beer for flavor without being too adventurous. Sessionable.

Pours a slightly hazy, dull golden-hued color with a scant, white head that recedes to leave not much of anything.

Aromas begin with some crackery, lightly toasted white breadiness with some light emerging citrus, grassy and spicy hops. I cannot tell any of the varieties as they hop presence is quite faint.

The tastes begin with the same pale bready maltiness with some slight caramel sweetness. Moderate fruity hops, mostly green fruits like pear and apple with some spicy and floral hops adding a medium-to-low amount of bitterness.

The mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with medium carbonation. Finish is has a gentle bitterness with a clean pale malt flavor.

Overall you could do a lot worse for a sessionable pale ale but also a lot better as well. Nothing strikingly off here but not a complex enough flavor profile to make me want to purchase this in a 6-pack form outside of the bar where I found this among the macro-swill.

Fairly good Pale Ale. For the price, a good Pale Ale. I bought a mixed six-pack of 12 oz beers under $2.00 a bottle at Total Wine. This was the first one up.

Pours a clear gold color with a little reddish or orange tinge in the gold. Medium size somewhat frothy white head with average retention. Several rings of lacing on the glass.

Smell is disappointing. Mild and somewhat reminiscent of a adjunct lager...a vegetably rice and corn aroma.

Taste is much better. A mild easy drinker with a bit of hops bitterness in an overall mild malty beer. No funky or metallic aftertaste, just a clean crisp flavor

A bit thin on mouthfeel, but crisp and refreshing.

A good beer to accompany food or for a session.
