One of the Flying Fish brewers had confided in me that their Porter and XPA were made to be combined with one another. If you find this on cask consider yourself to be very lucky. I had it once at The Grey Lodge, and really wanted to get my growler full of it. But I reconsidered, thinking it would be a shame that 4 less people would get to try this beer before the cask kicked.
Of course this means you can make your own BlackFish at home (I'm enjoying one now). Just take an XPA and pour it until it half fills your glass, then finish it off with porter. The hoppiness of the XPA and the maltiness of the porter really balance each other out perfectly. It's sweet and bitter at the same time, and goes down really smooth. You don't even realize you've drank 2 bottles of beer when you're done.

Had this from a newly tapped cask at the Grey Lodge.
The beer poured out a deep mahogany brown color with a small cream like head. Slight sour fruit aroma with some bittersweet chocolate. Slight citrus hop aroma and flavors. Has a very pleasant bitterness. I also detected something like a chocolate cherry cordial in the taste. This is a very mellow dark beer, light bodied but ultra smooth, almost velvet like. Very flavorful and goes down almost too easy. A finely crafted beer.
