Rarely are expectations as low going in as they are for this one. That sentiment comes from a proudly South Philadelphian. But, when you have to rely on a hackneyed and sophomoric phrase to market your beer, something must be falling short. Maybe they're reaching out to fans of the Gamecocks, or Ravens, or Falcons, who knows? In this case, it was gifted(?), not purchased. The pint can was cracked open and its contents spilled into a clear glass liter mug. The aroma is drabbly of malt of some kind and hops, of some kind. There's a very modest off-white head on top of a hazy, yet bright amber colored brew, with a golden tint. A mild hop bite that references citrus is the best part of the taste. The body is average, with the oats kept in check from making this too heavy, nor too chalky. Overall, this is better than expected from a tiredly phrased name, at least in the area in which it's brewed. By no measure is this a great, or even above average American IPA. It is nicely drinkable, even with the mild hopping and barley malt lacking backbone. The slightly stratified glass lacing was a pleasant surprise, as was the quality of a beer with a bad name. If you're not from the region, "Go birds" is as annoyingly common, disingenuous and basically, as mindless as " Have a nice one".

On draft, served in shaker pint glass

Fairly clear, medium golden color. Well rounded hop aroma that is moderately strong. Taste is some pale malt and balance with medium bitterness. Thin to medium bodied.

Lightly hazed gold with a finger of near-white head. Nice lacing. Big melon and citrus in the nose. The taste follows with a little pepper and touch of toasted malt. Medium bodied with a little zip to the carbonation. Starts out with a lot of promise, ends up just okay — like most Birds seasons. Enjoyable enough.

16oz canned 9-12-19, opened 11-15-19.
1/2" white head recedes quickly to a cap and some early lacing. For the most part a clean, golden pale ale.
Mango, lemon, cantaloupe, orange candy, and strawberry.
The fruits mentioned above over a light malt base with a hint of berry and pine towards the end.
Bright entry, medium carbonation and light body. Medium length finish.
Good. Unique hop combo, tasty pale ale.

Bright, medium-hued gold color; beautiful carbonation; nice head, thick and frothy. Fine balanced aroma; a bit sweet and grainy; mildly pungent and dank hop scent in the background. Like the smell, bringing a well-balanced flavor with nice ratios of low-key cereal grain and a fresh, juicy fruitiness to the palate with a deft touch of hop bitterness throughout; very clean taste. Medium body; crisp; not too sweet, not too dry.

Go Birds! brings a well-honed beer to your palate. Balance is found throughout the tasting experience.

No canning date.
Hazy. Light head, very light runny lacing. Aroma is citrus, with a light malt overtone. Tastes of very light citrus, and a bit malty. MF is standard for a hazy, light to medium. Carbonation is light.

Overall, I'm not impressed, but that might be because its a little long in the tooth. No idea.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 2/12/2020. Pours fairly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, red apple, strawberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, dill, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, red apple, strawberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, dill, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, minty, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, red apple, strawberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, dill, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is a delicious American pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Great Citra, Huell Melon, Lemondrop profile. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great clean wheat/oat/malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.
