The crack of a pint can expells a wonderful peanut aroma. It's more like a chocolate peanut candy, rather than just roasted peanuts. But it's poignant and pleasant. The pour that emptied the can went into a clear glass liter mug. The color is very dark brown, with a tan head receding and leaving lacing irregularly. Yet, the head is sustaining, something that doesn't always happen when the ABV is this high. Before the first taste, it must be reiterated how wonderful this smells to a lover of peanut butter. This is really among the best dessert beers you can try. But first, you'll have to love peanut butter. Even if you don't, the smooth mouthfeel bringing a 10.3 percent ABV has to be considered commendable. This one just nails a peanut butter candy as well as has been done, with a good buzz included. The finish, despite the sweetness and heavy peanut butter inclusion, is remarkably clean and toward the dry side. Only then does the drinker get a taste of the roasted malt that confirms this as a true stout and not some sort of milkshake brew. Highly recommended, but probably only for one at a time.
