Poured into a chalice: color is solid black, head is light tan with fine to small bubbles, head presents one finger thick then dissipates to thin top, lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is chocolate cake, cocoa, roast, very light booze, earthy hops.

Taste is chocolate cake, dark chocolate, bitter note, light roast and hints of malt base, slight booziness but expected at this strength.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness, light drying.

Overall a very good sweeter stout - not over done and the chocolate and bitterness counter the possible super sweet presence.

Solid black appearance with a very small tan head.
Light carbonation with a body that lies just above average.
Aroma is really impressive, chocolate cake and chocolate cake batter stands out and there's no need to look for or try to identify what the aroma is. There seems to be a small amount of vanilla, coffee, and roasted malt in the background.
The taste has some sweetness, alcohol is very well hidden but its chocolate cake in a glass.
This was one of the only beers that tasted exactly like advertised. An excellent way above average dessert beer.

Four pack copped from Total Wine and More of West Orange. Pours a thick, viscous ebony hue with prominent amounts of froth and lacing. Pungently sweet aroma replete with nuances of vanilla and molasses. Good stuff.

Foamy, but it's not the worst pour of the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. Yeah, there's that irregularly unattractive lacing left behind as it recedes, but there are far worse. The foam is a light biege, the liquid is black coffee brown. Its aroma is predominantly sweet chocolate and malt, but the malt seems less bitter than if it was well roasted. Still, dark chocolate reigns as the leading aroma. The way this tastes like unfrosted chocolate cake is uncanny. It's a little less sweet and supplies a bitter hop finish, but for the most part, it's liquid dark chocolate cake. Also, it's smooth enough to disguise an ABV of 10.5 %. If you like high ABV dessert beers and are seeking one that's not overly sweet, this is it. Just have a love of chocolate.
