For the first try of the now apparently relocated Flying Fish Brewery, this was discovered. New Jersey to Maryland isn't such a big deal geographically. At the time of this review, not much descriptive information was available about this one. The entire contents of a pint can were emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass. As there was no sustaining head, the pour went easily. The short-lived head sat briefly on top of a ruddy-amber liquid, bright, but remarkably opaque. There's a fruity ale aroma that's pronounced, but not blueberry specific. It drinks as a strong ale, almost a malt liquor, with a subtle hint of blueberry. But, it's a bit too sweet without enough fruit flavor to work as a good Braggot. There's no glass lacing, no complexity of tastes and no taste transitions to make this a worthwhile try. If you want a sweet and not too harsh 12% ABV beer hit, here it is. Otherwise, this should be a pass.
