This is a floral, spicy witbier “double sess(ion)” filled with ginger, szechuan peppercorns, and chamomile. It’s a wit without being cloying. For all the hefe-haters who want a great summer beer.

Pours a deep, hazy orange, big fluffy 2" head with excellent lacing and retention. Nose is loads of black pepper, orange peel, sourdough bread, lemon peel, vanilla ice cream, clove, baking spice, cinnamon. Lots going on and it's all very good! Taste expresses lots of the above - citrus peel up front, peppery and fruity mid-palate with a good hit of sichuan peppercorn (minus the numb), and some light, sweet creaminess on the finish. Hard for me to place the "cream" hint I'm getting here, but maybe it's the chamomile? Ginger comes forward as it warms. Mouthfeel is soft with very light carbonation. Overall, really enjoyed this, and always great to see people working with wits.

Now a wit with this spice combo is something I can get behind, hopefully it delivers.

A- A tallboy pours into a tulip with a slightly hazy, very pale golden yellow body. The head is nice and thick with a creamy texture and very good retention. Small webs of lacing.

S- Witbier far and away the strongest thing in the aroma with pepper, coriander, citrus zest, lemon, slight banana/esters, bready grains and Belgian yeast spice coming to mind. The ginger root comes out next and here it is hard to detect the Szechuan peppercorns. Ginger is actually huge with some time.

T- Interestingly compared to the aroma the yeast becomes more prominent and the adjuncts less so. The witbier yeast provides a base of coriander, banana and clove, esters, vanilla sweets, belgian yeast spice, orange and lemon zest and some herbal hints. The chamomile is in the aftertaste and the ginger is strong throughout but still not getting much of my favorite spice in the Szechuan peppercorns.

MF- Light bodied with a medium level of carbonation. The texture is just a bit frothy and it comes off a bit thin. Ends with an herbal bitterness.

A very easy drinking witbier that boasts a lot of flavor with some nice ginger coming into play as well as some chamomile. Body a bit on the thin side.

FINBACK DOUBLE SESS 8/20/18

Bought a single in a mixed six. My first brew from this popular brand.

a: Translucent orange with an inch thick white head which receded to thin patchy surface foam and slight spotty lacing.

s: Ginger ale.

t; Follows the nose in a pleasingly mild way over a medium wheaty base. Somewhat sweet finish.

m; Light to medium, good body and some carbonation tingle.

o; Good as advertised, the "spices" added to the wheat beer base being dominated by ginger. Nice mild summery flavor, and low enough ABV that it could indeed be a "double session" choice.

Can courtesy of Schlimenhaumer.

Subtle chamomile plays well with the Belgian yeast. Delicate yeasty spice accentuates the Szechuan peppercorn. 2-row and wheat give this its refreshing foundation.

this is pretty close to a textbook wit, albeit with some added stuff in here, but its supremely well made, and as drinkable and enjoyable as any of their hoppy stuff has been. its got a ton of character, the szechuan and the ginger both fresh and fragrant and lively in here, spicy but not so intense that they overshadow the base beer, which has a beautiful ale clear color and tall white head, herbal and earthy belgian yeast, and a delicate wheaty flavor and mouthfeel to it, extraordinarily well made whether you like the style or the added flavors, the quality is undeniable. i get some herbal tea here, some citrusy hops, black pepper, and an estery yeast complexion that includes pear and green apple. nice minerality too, bright and clean, and then very dry in the finish. this smells and tastes like the springtime, and i found it to be one of the more complex examples of the style i have had lately, but in a really unified and drinkable overall package. obviously its the hoppy finback stuff thats getting most of the attention these days, but this is excellent beer. thanks to my brother for sharing it with me! this is an all day drinker for sure!

Treated as a witbier, this was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a nice looking semi-murky to pale orange color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a sly pace. Slim to barely none sort of slightly speckled lace.
The aroma had a wonderful blend of sweet chamomile - nice floral setting conglomerating over top of a light crushed peppercorn and then a delicate mint. Subtle whiff of mild Belgian breadiness. Some ginger, and a touch of banana slid in underneath, but super faint overall. Light lemon and then grains of paradise to some light crushed sort of allspice sliding in appropriately and pretty much just how I wanted it.
The flavor had a nice sweet to spicy blend of the Belgian yeasty to banana to bready and light chamomile flowing over the peppercorn to mint to grains of paradise very nice. There's a nice acceptable sort of stickiness about it and flowing on into the aftertaste just how I liked it. Aftertaste was exceptionally smooth with a sly minty to earthy sort of pull.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt very nice. ABV felt appropriate. Just a tickle of the spice seemed to hit on the harshness side along my tongue, but I wasn't bothered by that.
Overall, as a witbier, well, how about that, for the style, it's actually quite nice and for me, well, hell - it's my first Finback so, I'm excited about that.
