Fills a Pretentious Beer Glass Company aromatic glass shiny copper (SRM 15-17) and is almost clear. One-half inch of fine off-white head quickly fades to a thin veil, leaving patchy spots of lace.
The aroma is very fruity with pronounced mandarin orange followed by apricot. Rather sweet while warmth diminishes the character.
This beer is surprisingly bitter for a Sour Ale. Sourness tends toward the vinegar side with some Sour Patch Kids and peaches. Sweetness comes out and lingers in a long finish before sourness plants itself, firmly overtaking the tongue. Warmth mellows the sourness and brings out some apple flavors.
The body is thin and silky with fizzy carbonation. Dry astringency accents metallic notes, while the alcohol is as expected.
This is an enjoyable, but roughly assembled beer. One can relax with the beer alone, but I suspect it would be better with a Limburger and onion sandwich.
