Traded for this a while ago and took way too long to get it cracked open...but tonight, this was the first of many Finback beers that I plan on finally reviewing. I loved the other beers that I've had from this place and even though this wasn't particularly memorable, this went down relatively easily and unlike their other beers that weren't quite new when renewed, this didn't have anything large floating around in it!
As expected, this beer was cantaloupe-hued, dank, and just a bit bright around the edges. A moderate head was on here that remained as spotty clumps of lacing. Lots of melon, stone fruit pith, and pineapple in the muted aroma with more of those found in the taste. Stone fruit sweetness came into play in the taste along with a bit of grass and dare I say it - urine-like dankness right behind it. Mouthfeel is that of vanilla creme as a growing sweetness came into play as this warmed up. More complex than I was led to believe, not everything meshed well together here but there was enough to enjoy that I didn't mind, thanks to a present but understated amount of carbonation.
This was deceptively easy to drink as there was more than enough alcohol to be found here. I love how each batch of Oscillation is different and although the labels for this beer are all the same, the "666" on the bottom of the can above the date of 10/5 was the only thing that distinguished this beer from the other incarnations. Yes, I wasn't crazy about the mark of the beast reference but other than that, this wasn't bad and grew on me as bit as it warmed up. Too much conflicting dankness and sweetness kept this from being a true winner but it's worth a go once, especially if you've been lucky enough to try any of this beer's other variants.

A unique hop aroma and excellent mouthfeel are unfortunately the best part of this beer. The combibation of hops on the taste doesn't quite work for me. Still a good DIPA.
