16oz. can into Night Shift stemware. Shared by schen9303.
Nose is Bigolo lemon hand cream. Super aromatic. Zesty. Beer opens coarse. A mix of lemon rind and zest with a waxy bitterness. Sweetens a bit towards the middle but not much. Just more lemon sour candies throughout. The waxiness never really goes away. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively on the palate and goes down aggressive. Sparkling with a lingering, sticky, dry aftertaste.
I can see what they were going for with this but I can't get over the waxiness. Kind of weird.

sour with vanilla and lactose continues to be weird to me, even in better made beer like this, i think its an odd combination to have desserty flavors and textures colliding with acidity and pucker, it seems like a clash, and it often is. this one is better than most, the desserty bits and the sourness is bridged by the lemon in here, a sort of candied or zested and baked vibe to it, especially with the little bit of malt to this, almost cakey, and the lemongrass gives it a tropical lightness that i find appealing, helps integrate the lactose a little bit. vanilla is strong here though, especially in the nose, and its hard to get past that, it almost makes this seem like a cream soda or something, sweet and pungent throughout. the acidity is moderate, im glad its not any more sour than it is, clean enough, works with the lemon element, but i think this would be a better beer either as a non sour, or without the added lactose, there is a friction somehow here. i had this can pretty late in the session, possibly on a faded palate, i will revisit this soon and compare, but this seems like a stab at being trendy, and as much as its fun, its not at the level of some of the other finback stuff we got to drink. maybe too much vanilla, maybe just me...
